Diamond STEM is a federally registered, volunteer-driven Canadian nonprofit creating welcoming, community-based spaces where learning, confidence, and connection grow together.
We design and deliver hands-on, practical workshops that support education, employment readiness, and personal well-being. Our programs are especially focused on newcomers, families, and adults navigating change — offering tools that are useful, relevant, and empowering in real life.
Rather than operating from a single office, Diamond STEM is mobile by design. We partner with libraries and community spaces to bring programs directly into the community, reducing barriers and making participation easier and more accessible.
Guided by values of dignity, safety, cultural sensitivity, and practical support, our work is community-focused, non-political, and delivered in a respectful, trauma-informed way.

Our founder
Bahareh Morad · بهاره مراد
Founder & Executive Director · Unpaid leadership
Bahareh holds a Master of Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Her background spans psychotherapy, early childhood education, family support and community education. She receives no salary or compensation from Diamond STEM.
Why employment first?
More than 20 years ago, a discouraging job interview taught Bahareh that understanding Canadian résumés, interviews and workplace expectations mattered alongside language confidence. Customer-facing work later helped her build communication skills through daily experience. That insight shapes the program today: employment can support stability, connection and belonging.
After an early volunteer workshop, a conversation with Afshin Yazdani, Barrister & Solicitor, helped inspire the name English for Employment. Bahareh went on to design and teach the program through Diamond STEM.
